Illusion of Luxury
Social Change
I have thought a lot about the problems of the world in our times. The biggest positive change that I can see, is when an individual takes a journey of Self Becoming. One by one individuals shine their light in one way or other and I don’t see change happening in any other way. No social structure is able to transform to something better without its individual members shifting their thinking to a more connected and integrated place.
It is not enough anymore to come out of the yoga studio, green juice in hand and calming music playing from luxurious wireless headphones. I live in London and healthy lifestyle has it’s own vibe here. Quite luxurious vibe.
Feeling Well As a State of Being
It’s time to consciously approach wellbeing as a normality. Healthy living in my mind is not a luxury, feeling well has to be the way of being. Instead of ill-health and endless doctors’ visits, we who we can, in privileged Western societies, can start with taking more responsibility over our own health.
There is pressure to achieve, pressure to succeed, professional competition, exhaustion. But there is also clean drinking water, fridges full of organic food, warm showers, high level education, iPhones - what’s the excuse? If we are too comfortable to take responsibility, then people living in poverty are clearly not in the position for it.
I also see responsibility with a little softer touch as the ability to respond. Isn’t it a good time to develop our abilities to respond? If there are skills to be learned then I think this one is on top of the list.
